Hey, Bearcat! If you're moving into off-campus housing near the University of Cincinnati this summer, we’ve got your back. Whether you're new to renting, new to Cincy, or both—here are a few resources we think are essential to living off campus.
1. Know Your Transportation Options
- Bearcat Shuttles: UC offers a free shuttle service with 20 buses across 16 routes. It’s perfect for getting to class, the Rec Center, or even across campuses like Blue Ash and Victory Parkway. Download the TRANSLOC app for real-time shuttle updates. Learn More.
- Bikes: Bringing a bike? Be sure to register it with UC Public Safety—they’ll even give you a free lock! Learn More.
- E-Scooters: You’ll see Bird and Lime scooters all over Clifton. Just grab the app, link a card, and scoot around town—it’s a fun way to zip between classes or run errands.
- Metro: Metro is partnering with the University of Cincinnati to extend free bus promotion to students. Metro is offering FREE 30-Day passes over the summer to university students each month to help ease commuting costs and parking hassles. Learn More.
- NightRide Service: Out late? NightRide shuttles run from 8 pm to 2 am within a mile of campus—and you can even bring a guest! Learn More.
2. Stay Connected with Emergency Alerts
- UC Alerts: You’re automatically enrolled in UC’s alert system, but make sure your cell number is added under “Emergency Text” in Catalyst so you don’t miss any texts. Learn More.
- City of Cincinnati: New to the city? Check out local resources and info to help you settle in. Learn More.
- Uptown Text Alerts: If you've received texts from us before you're already opted in but if you're not sure you can text the office at 513-547-3682.
3. Update Your Address with USPS
- Update Your Address: Don’t forget to update your address with the USPS so your mail, packages, and even important stuff like voter info or banking documents get to you. You can do it online in just a couple of minutes. Learn More.
4. Take Care of Yourself
- Get Involved: Discover campus events and organizations on the GetInvolved site. Learn More.
- Bearcat Guardian App: Download this handy app—it lets you send anonymous safety tips, quickly contact UC police, and even store medical info in case of an emergency. Learn More.
- Health Access: It’s always good to know where the nearest urgent care or ER is. For everyday stuff, UC Student Health Services in the Lindner Center has you covered. Learn More.
