Apartment Tips | January 2, 2024
The eggnog's all gone, and a new year stretches before us. January's looking chillier than a snowman's smile.
The experts are calling for lower-than-average temperatures in Cincinnati (about 4 degrees colder than normal), so it's time to bundle up and get proactive! No need to fear, though, because your property managers are here with some winterizing tips to keep your apartment cozy and comfy, even when the mercury plummets.
Thermostat: Set your thermostat on at least 65 degrees.
Pipe Protection: Let hot water drip from your bathroom and kitchen faucets on especially frigid nights. As a general guideline, it's a good idea to start dripping your faucets when the temperature:
- Falls below 20°F.
- Is consistently forecast to remain below freezing for 24 hours or more.
- Drops suddenly, even if it's still above 20°F.
Let the Sunshine In: Open your curtains during the day to let those precious sunbeams in. Natural light and warmth are a winning combo!
If you can't achieve at least 65 degrees, report it to the office as soon as possible.
Remember, renters, with a little preparation and these helpful tips, you can turn January's chill into a season of cozy charm.
Stay warm & stay safe!
